Let's Talk About Blogs.

In the early days of my undergraduate journey, I developed a very novice blog. I had no idea how to do web design or properly publish my posts. The blog was relatively insufficient, and it was created during a less mentally and emotionally developed time of my life. Between balancing a social life and a strenuous degree, I was not able to continue the blog. Roughly 9 years later, I am blogging again.
Blogging requires more work than many expect. The steps to starting a blog varies based on individual preference. However, I would like to go more into depth about how I started this current blog. The first step involved creating a name for my blog. My blog name started as a different project I wanted to pursue, but I decided to use the name for my blog instead. Next, I brainstormed multiple writing prompts and began my website design. This process took weeks before I became satisfied with the results of my brainstorming. Finally, I began writing content. I wanted to have some content already written or in the works to curate a smoothe transition to publishing my blog website. Before publishing a new blog post each week, I spend 1-2 hours editing the posts. While the posts are not long, I want to make sure what I am conveying is well-written and cohesive.
During this blogging journey, I taught myself how to web design and develop prompts that allowed for various discussions. I also now understand the process of properly publishing my posts as well as obtaining a domain that isn't cliche or "cringey". Honestly, I had no plans to start blogging again, and I gave up on writing after letting go of my path in film. I love writing, and I have been writing since I was 4-5 years old. However, life made it really difficult to continue to have a passion for writing. Additionally, with the discontinuation of my film career journey, I did not feel there was a reason for me to write anymore. Now, things have changed for the better.
For now, I have put my typical creative writing on the back burner, but maybe one day, that will change. In the meantime, I will be working on this blog, a different type of creative writing, and making it great. I am thrilled to be writing again even if it means writing on random topics every week. Having to take unwanted breaks from your passions can be devasting, but the breaks don't have to last forever. At this point in my life, I have few major career aspirations. Writing is a huge aspect of one of those aspirations. I am excited to see where this blog takes me as I begin to start my writing journey, again.
I leave you with these few words: You can always start again.
Discussion Question: Do you like to write? If so, what style/genre of writing do you enjoy most? If you are a non-writer, who is your favorite writer and why?
